Little Explorers Academy

Embracing the big minds in our little explorers

Keystone STARS

We are Keystone STARS accredited. With our new management team and our staff qualification improvement, we are ready to rise in Star level! Our enhanced classroom learning environment, staff and director education and training, parent participation and professional management practices allow us to support the optimal growth and development of each child entrusted to our care. We teach kindness, empathy and respect, as well as shapes and numbers. We endeavor to stretch bodies and minds. We are committed to meeting the developmental needs of each child—intellectual, physical, social, and emotional. Whether identifying a letter, catching a ball, or sharing a toy—there are many kinds of learning and we want to include them all.

Open Door Policy

Parents are welcome to visit and observe class at any time. We are delighted to include parents in our daily activities, utilize them as classroom volunteers or have them join us for special events. Please remember that this is YOUR early learning center. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to us about them. A brief exchange is usually possible at drop-off or pick-up. If there is a need for longer discussion, we are happy to set up an appointment. Parent-teacher conferences are offered twice a year, but an additional conference can be scheduled at any time. Communication is the best thing for you, the best thing for us, and most importantly, the best thing for your child. A positive partnership with parents, founded on mutual trust and respect, is an essential component to our success. We rely on parent input and information to help us meet each child’s unique needs. Daily communication between teachers and parents is essential to our program.

Child Care Subsidy and Scholarships

Little Explorers participates in the Pennsylvania Subsidized Child Care Program that is run by the Department of Public Welfare (DPW) through Child Care Information Services (CCIS). The subsidized program is to help families of low-income to obtain affordable, accessible, quality child care and to obtain funding.  All eligible families must be pre-approved before enrollment.

Special Needs

We are devoted to the welfare of all children. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of children with learning differences or disabilities. Please let us know if your child is receiving early intervention services or has an Individual Education Plan (IEP). Children can often receive support services while in our care. We are happy to work with other professionals to maximize learning opportunities for each and every child at our Center.

New Management Team 2019!

Serving the community since 2008, Little Explorers maintained and grew reputation in our love and care for children. We are also excited to pronounce our new ownership and management in 2019. Our new management team brings in a brand-new set of curricula that encourage the children to explore through all major topics including science, technology, engineering, art, and math, an enriched STEM focus with the new spirit of Art. This is our STEAM challenge to nurture our future talents.

Our Program

We provide quality care to children 6 weeks to 12 years old.

Infant

8 Weeks to 12 Months

Our infant program is designed to provide each child with a feeling of warmth, confidence, and security. The schedule is very flexible to allow the teachers to spend quality time with each child. We believe that through this nurturing interaction, along with encouragement and lots of love, the children will experience a warmth that is essential to their growth and development.

Young Toddler

12 Months to 24 Months

The emphasis of our young toddler program will be on initial acquisition of basic self-help skills. The children will participate in open-ended activities where the process is stressed rather than the outcome. Through the use of interest areas, the children will experience dramatic play, singing, games, stories, manipulatives, and or projects along with various other activities. The children are encouraged daily in both indoor and outdoor activities with the inclusion of small and large group experiences.

Older Toddler

25 Months to 36 Months

The goal of the older toddler class is to expand language development and to promote social participation in a group setting. The children are engaged in developmentally appropriate activities both indoors and outdoors with the inclusion of small and large group experiences. Vocabulary, reading, role play, math games, artistic explorations and emerging understanding of science are the key activities throughout the day.

Preschool

The emphasis of the Preschool class is to provide challenging activities designed to meet the individual needs of children during this active time of growth and development, in addition to promoting enthusiastic and receptive attitude toward school. By combining a diverse, academic program with a healthy, socially-oriented one, we strive to create a stimulating fun-filled day for the children. Within this room interest areas will also be used to engage the children in separate activities throughout the day.

Before/After School

Our Before School Care will include relaxing activities to help prepare your child for their transition into their classroom. Our After School Care will include a healthy snack, the start of homework, computer time, dramatic play, gross motor activities, table games, art activities, and quiet/reading areas. At the end of the day, your child will have had fun with their friends AND started their homework.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is offered to children who have completed Kindergarten through third grade. It consists of a full day program to accommodate working parent’s schedules. The CAMP is staffed with 2 counselors and can accommodate up to 15 children. There are many exciting activities planned throughout the entire summer to include a balance of interests that are educational, sports related, artistic and just plain FUN!!
